Food and Wine Tour in Albania

The tour begins in Tirana, the vibrant and cosmopolitan capital, where we’ll savor traditional dishes in local restaurants and explore the city center’s markets brimming with fresh, authentic produce.
We’ll continue to Shkodra, a historic city in the north, famous for its traditional cuisine and fresh fish dishes from nearby Lake Shkodra.
In Durrës, the Adriatic coast offers unique gastronomic experiences, including seafood, olive oil, and local wines. The next stop will be Berat, the “city of a thousand windows,” where tastings of regional wines and traditional dishes will introduce us to the authentic flavors of the heart of Albania.
We’ll then move on to Saranda, the pearl of the Ionian Riviera, where we’ll savor fresh fish and seafood specialties, paired with local wines and surrounded by breathtaking views.
You won’t want to miss a visit to Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, an extraordinary archaeological site immersed in lush nature, combining culture and scenic beauty.

Arrival at Tirana airport. Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel in Shkodër. Dinner at a typical restaurant with traditional local dishes. Overnight stay.
After breakfast, visit the city of Shkodër, inhabited since the Bronze Age and founded around the 4th century BC. A century later, it became the capital of the Illyrian Kingdom until 221 BC, the year of the Roman conquest. Visit Rozafa Castle, rebuilt in the 14th century during Venetian rule on ancient Illyrian foundations. Afterwards, visit the Marubi Photography Museum and take a short stroll through the historic center. Lunch at a restaurant serving slow food.
Breakfast at the hotel. Panoramic tour of Tirana, including Scanderbeg Square, the National Historical Museum, and the Ethem Bej Mosque. Continue to the “Blloku” neighborhood, once the political residence of the communist regime. Departure for Durrës, a city with a thousand-year history, founded in 627 BC by the Greeks of Corcyra and Corinth. Formerly called the “wonderful city” for its statues, monuments, and temples, today only a few remains remain, housed in the Archaeological Museum. Lunch at a seafood restaurant. In the afternoon, departure for Berat, one of Albania’s most evocative cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as the “city of a thousand windows.” En route, stop at the Cobo winery. Enjoy a typical regional dinner. Hotel accommodation and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel. Panoramic tour of Berat, including the old town, the castle, and the Onufri Museum. Lunch at a restaurant within the walls of the fortified town, featuring a typical regional menu. In the afternoon, continue to Gjirokastër, a museum city built entirely of stone and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the castle and stroll through the historic center. Dinner at a restaurant serving traditional Gjirokastër dishes. Hotel check-in and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for the coastal city of Saranda and a panoramic tour. Continue to the ancient city of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way, stop at the Blue Eye, a spectacular karst spring of rare beauty.
Lunch at a seafood restaurant. In the afternoon, visit the archaeological site of Butrint, the most important in Albania, inhabited since the 8th century BC by Greek colonists and later by the Romans. Traces of various civilizations testify to the continuity of life over centuries. Return to Saranda. Dinner at a traditional seaside restaurant. Hotel check-in and overnight stay.
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for Vlora along the picturesque Ionian Riviera. Stop in Porto Palermo to visit the Ali Pasha Fortress. Arrival in Llogara National Park and lunch at a restaurant with a typical local menu. In the afternoon, continue to Vlora and visit the city. Enjoy a typical regional dinner. Hotel check-in and overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for the ancient city of Apollonia, located on the famous Via Egnatia – one of the most important cities of Ancient Rome.
The famous Roman orator Cicero, amazed by the beauty of Apollonia, called it “magna urbs et gravis,” or “a large and important city.” Founded in the 7th century BC by Greek colonists, it was here that Julius Caesar sent his nephew Augustus Octavian to study oratory. Visit the site and the archaeological museum. After lunch at a restaurant serving typical local cuisine, we depart for the Ardenica Monastery, built by the Byzantine Emperor Andronicus II Palaiologos in 1282. Inside the church, frescoes dating back to that period can still be admired. Arrive in Tirana for dinner at a restaurant with a varied menu. Check in to your hotel and overnight stay.
After breakfast, free time and departure for the airport.
